If you haven’t heard of a white tea shot before, get ready to meet a super easy sip you can whip up in minutes and serve at your next get-together. This refreshing drink is served chilled and only requires 4 ingredients. Just add everything to your cocktail shaker with some ice and pour.

What is a White Tea Shot?

A white tea shot is a drink made with vodka, peach schnapps, sour mix, and an optional splash of lemon-lime soda. Similar to a green tea shot, there isn’t actually any tea in the recipe. But the finished drink looks like chilled white tea, hence the name.

What is the difference between a white tea shot and a green tea shot?

The main difference is the kind of alcohol used. Both a green tea shot and a white tea shot are made with sour mix, peach schnapps, and lemon-lime soda (like Sprite). However, a green tea shot is made with Jameson Irish Whisky, while a white tea shot is made with vodka.

White Tea Shot Ingredients

In addition to ice and a cocktail shaker, you only need 4 ingredients to make this drink. Here’s a quick overview. Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card for specific amounts.

  • Vodka – You can use your favorite brand of vodka.
  • Peach Schnapps – A kind of fruity brandy made by fermenting peach juice with a clear grain base liquor.
  • Sweet and Sour Mix – You can buy this at the store, on Amazon, or make your own. Another option is to replace the sour mix with fresh lime or lemon juice. (Only fresh though, none of that bottled stuff.)
  • Lemon Lime Soda – I usually use Sprite. This is technically optional but I like the bubbliness of the soda.

Other options:

  • Lemonade – If you don’t want to use soda, you can also use lemonade.
  • Sweetener – If you prefer a slightly sweeter drink, you can add a small amount of simple syrup or maple syrup to your cocktail shaker. My husband usually adds a teaspoon of maple syrup when he is going to have one of these drinks.

Want to Make More Than One?

The recipe below makes 1 drink, but you can make more than one by multiplying the ingredients by the number of shots you want to make. How many shots you can make at a time will depend upon the size of your cocktail shaker.

How to Make a White Tea Shot

Making a white tea shot is super easy! Here’s how to do it:

  • Fill your cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  • Add the vodka, schnapps, and sweet-sour mix.
  • Shake vigorously
  • Strain into glass and top off with a splash of lemon-lime soda, if using.
  • Garnish with a lemon wedge if desired.

Do I Need a Cocktail Shaker?

Technically this drink is made in a cocktail shaker that has a lid with a strainer. However, you can make drinks that “require” a shaker using a mason jar with a screw-on lid. Just be careful when you shake up your drink, and then unscrew the lid and use it to strain out the liquid without all the ice coming out.

What Does a White Tea Shot Taste Like?

A white tea shot has a fruity flavor from the peach schnapps that is cut with the tartness of the sour mix or citrus juice. If you add a splash of soda to your drink, then it also has a touch of bubbliness.

Serving Suggestions

I like to serve this drink with appetizers and snacks, or something spicy. It goes well with these spicy ramen noodles and helps cut the heat from the noodle dish.

You can also serve it with strawberry and goat cheese bruschetta, deviled eggs, crunchy spring rolls, or even taquitos. For gatherings, I definitely recommend giving guests a variety of foods to choose from.
