Looking for a cool and refreshing drink to beat the summertime heat? Try a Pink Whitney! Made with pink lemonade and vodka, this simple cocktail comes together in a snap and is super satisfying.

Friends, is it hot as all get out in your neck of the woods? Cause if it is, then I think we both need a cold, refreshing cocktail. It has been so HOT I’m using it as an excuse to sit out on the deck while sipping a cool drink and reading a romance novel. Because that’s how I turn lemons into lemonade around here.

This Pink Whitney cocktail is made with pink lemonade, vodka, and lots of ice. I like to garnish this drink with lemon wedges and a sprig of fresh mint from the garden. It takes minutes to make and kids don’t feel left out because I can just give them a big glass of pink lemonade (hold the vodka!), add a bunch of ice and add the garnishes to make their drinks just as fancy. Easy as pie!

Why is it Called a Pink Whitney Drink?

This cocktail is based upon a bottled beverage from the New Amsterdam Vodka company. They named their drink after one of the Spittin Chiclets Podcast hosts, Ryan Whitney. Ryan is a former NHL hockey player and the podcast is insanely popular. New Amsterdam collaborated with Ryan to create a bottled drink called the Pink Whitney, which has pink lemonade and vodka flavors.

Ingredients

You don’t need any special tools to make this cocktail, just a few basic ingredients. (Scroll down to the recipe card below for specific amounts.)

  • Vodka – I like to use Absolut
  • Pink Lemonade – I like Newmans Own’s lemonade.
  • Ice – You can use crushed ice or cubes
  • Garnishes – Lemon wedges and a sprig of fresh mint

How to Make a Pink Whitney

Are you ready to make this refreshing sip? Here’s how.

  1. Add ice to your glass.
  2. Pour in the vodka.
  3. Add the pink lemonade.
  4. Give everything a good stir.
  5. Add your garnishes and start sipping!

Variation Ideas

If you want to get creative with your cocktail, you can experiment with these additions:

  • Add a splash of seltzer for some bubbliness. You can also add Sprite or 7UP, though these will also make your drink sweeter.
  • Use half vodka and half Malibu rum.
  • Add a splash of juice. Cranberry or pomegranate juice add extra color and flavor.
  • Use strawberry slices for garnish. Instead of, or in addition to, the lemon and mint.

Can I Make this a Pitcher Drink?

You can definitely turn this into a cocktail for a crowd. The recipe below is for one 8-oz drink, so simply determine how many ounces are in your pitcher and multiply accordingly.

So for example my smaller pitcher holds 32-oz. So then I would do the following:

  • Add 24 oz (3 cups) of pink lemonade
  • Add 4-8 oz of vodka (depending on how strong I wanted the drink to be)
  • Mix everything up, then fill the rest of the pitcher with ice and serve.

My larger pitcher holds 64-oz, so then the measurements would be the following:

  • 48 oz (6 cups) lemonade
  • Add 8-16 oz of vodka (again, depends on how strong I want it to be)
  • Mix everything up, add ice and serve.

Stay cool my friends!
