Fresas Con Crema is a simple Mexican dessert made with fresh strawberries and cream. Serve with lots of fluffy whipped cream and strawberries slices!


  • 16 ounces fresh strawberries , tops removed and thinly sliced/chopped
  • 2 tablespoons plus 1/2 cup granulated sugar, divided use
  • 3/4 cup sour cream*
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed coconut milk**
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream, from a can for serving


Prep the strawberries. Combine the sliced strawberries with 2 tablespoons white sugar in a medium bowl. Set aside. This can stay on the counter for a couple hours, or several hours in the fridge.

Make the Coconut Condensed Milk. Add 1 cup of coconut milk to a small saucepan with 1/2 cup of granulated white sugar. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook until the mixture has reduced by half. This takes about 30 min. Remove from the stove and set aside to cool, then transfer to a mason jar and store in the fridge until cold.

  • Want to skip this step? You can also use 1/2 cup canned sweetened condensed milk instead of making the coconut version on the stovetop.

Chill your bowl. While the milk mixtures are cooling, chill the bowl of your stand mixer in the freezer.

Make the Fresas Con Crema. Add the sour cream, evaporated milk, whipping cream, sweetened condensed coconut milk and vanilla to the bowl of a stand mixer. Beat with the whisk attachment on high speed for 3 minutes.

Layer the sliced strawberries and cream mixture in serving glasses. Use your preferred ratio of berries to cream.

Serve. Top with a nice amount of whipped cream plus a few strawberry slices, and serve.


*For a sweeter cream, use plain yogurt instead of sour cream.

** You can use an equal amount of canned sweetened condensed milk if you prefer.
