Frozen Strawberry Margaritas (Virgin, or Not)

These frozen strawberry margaritas can be made with our without alcohol. They are refreshing and super easy to make with your blender!

I don’t drink alcohol too often – a glass of wine a couple times a month is about the norm for me. But there are some days that just call for a margarita. Or a tequila sunrise. Namely it’s the special drink with a touch of booze that I’m after.

Luckily, my husband is an excellent bartender! That’s one of the ways he won my hand all those years ago, by wowing me with his sophisticated bartending skills. 🙂

These frozen strawberry margaritas need only a few minutes to make and the blender does most of the work. You can make them with or without alcohol, which is perfect for families with children. I know in my house, our kiddo doesn’t want to be left out when we’re making “fancy drinks,” so a virgin margarita is the perfect solution. I will sometimes opt for the non-alcoholic version myself – it’s super tasty!

How to Make a Flexible Margarita

One of the best things about this frozen margaritas recipe is how flexible it is. By this I mean, you can make one pitcher, turn part of it into a virgin margarita for the kids and then make the rest a boozy margarita for the grown ups. Here’s how to do it:

  • If making a full pitcher with alcohol: Use 6 oz tequila and 2 oz triple sec. Add this to the blender with everything else and blend away.
  • If making virgin AND boozy margaritas: This recipe makes 4 servings. This means that each single serving of margarita has 1.5 oz of tequila and 1/2 oz of triple sec.
    • So pour out the amount needed for the virgin strawberry margaritas, leaving the remainder in the blender.
    • Add the amount of alcohol needed for the number of servings left in the blender. Blend it all up and serve!

Can I Use Different Fruits?

If strawberries are not your fav, you can also use frozen mango or even a mix of frozen fruits. Mango-pineapple, mixed berry, you name it. You may need to adjust the sweetness somewhat if you use more bitter fruits such as raspberries, but that is an easy adjustment to make. Just taste the margarita right after you’ve blended the ingredients and add more agave a tablespoon at a time. Blend some more and taste.
