This Cinnamon Dolce Latte recipe uses simple ingredients and techniques to make a flavorful Starbucks copycat drink topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream!

If you’re a fan of Starbucks copycat drinks like I am, then you’ll be excited to try this new Cinnamon Dolce Latte recipe. It is super easy to make (especially if you make the cinnamon simple syrup in advance) and results in a delicious latte that tastes just like you went to your local coffee shop.

Why You’ll Love This Cinnamon Dolce Latte

  • Easy. You won’t need any special equipment to make this recipe. We’re going to cheat and use your usual blend of coffee, plus warm milk, homemade cinnamon syrup and whipped cream to make a satisfying Starbucks copycat drink.
  • Flavorful. The cinnamon simple syrup infuses the coffee with sweetness and notes of caramel, cinnamon and vanilla. You can adjust how much syrup you use to add more/less sweetness and flavor. Add a generous dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon on top.
  • Autumn vibes. This latte is just plain cozy. It smells like autumn in a cup and is perfect for sipping on cool mornings as the the season shifts into fall.

What is a Cinnamon Dolce?

A Starbucks a Cinnamon Dolce Latte is a hot beverage made with steamed milk, espresso, cinnamon dolce syrup and whipped cream. A cinnamon dolce topping is also sprinkled on top. You can get an iced version of a Cinnamon Dolce too.

Our homemade version recreates the same flavors using coffee and a homemade cinnamon dolce syrup. For the topping we are using ground cinnamon, but you can also make “cinnamon dolce sprinkles” if you like and use those instead.

Recipe Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make a cinnamon dolce latte right in your own kitchen:

  • Cinnamon syrup – We are going to use homemade cinnamon simple syrup to add that “cinnamon dolce” flavor to this drink.
  • Coffee – YES, I realize that a “latte” technically uses espresso. However, as I mentioned way back when I shared my gingerbread latte recipe, I don’t have an espresso machine. To this day I refuse to sacrifice the counter space or the moola. 🙂
  • Milk – You can use regular milk or plant based. Note that if you plan to froth your milk and are using a plant based option, you’ll need to use a brand that froths well. You can also use half and half.
  • Whipped cream – I like to be generous with the whipped cream on top. (Hence using a big mug!)
  • Ground cinnamon – Just a sprinkle on top, for a finishing touch.

How to Make a Cinnamon Dolce Latte

Are you ready to make a cozy cup of cinnamon dolce latte? Here’s how to do it:

  • Make your cinnamon simple syrup. You can do this 30 minutes before you want to make your latte, or you can do it in advance. I usually make it on the weekend and then keep a jar of the cinnamon dolce syrup in the fridge for easy lattes during the week.
  • Brew coffee. Make your favorite brand of coffee according to your preferences.
  • Warm milk. Heat the milk in a small pot on the stove over low heat, or you can warm it in the microwave. You want it to be hot but not scalding. If you have a frother (affiliate link), you can froth the milk before adding it to your drink.
  • Assemble your latte. Pour 2 tablespoons of cinnamon syrup into an 15-oz mug. Add 1 cup of coffee on top. Pour the warmed milk on top. Taste and adjust the sweetness as desired. Add a generous amount of whipped cream on top and garnish with a few pinches of ground cinnamon.

Serving Suggestions

Looking for something yummy to serve with your cinnamon dolce latte? There are tons of options! If you’re in the mood for muffins, pumpkin muffins or banana muffins are always a treat. You also can’t go wrong with cranberry orange scones, pumpkin scones or maple scones.

Of course, this cinnamon dolce drink is also a great way to add some fancy flair to breakfast. Serve it with pancakes, waffles or challah french toast for the ultimate morning indulgence.
