This copycat Starbucks Carmel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino is easy to make and totally over the top. Serve it with lots of whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel sauce and crushed candies.

If you’re ready to throw caution to the wind and make a frappuccino that’s honestly a caffeinated dessert, then do I have the recipe for you: a Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino! This sinful sip is made of chilled coffee, simple syrup, caramel sauce and ice that’s all blended up until smooth. Then you pour the concoction into tall glasses and top them with whipped cream and chopped up candies! Total decadence.

Why You’ll Love This Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino Recipe

  • Easy. Just add the main ingredients to your blender (affiliate link) and puree until smooth. Then pour into glasses and add your preferred toppings.
  • Flexible. You can be as simple or as fancy as you like with the toppings. Want to add a drizzle of chocolate syrup? Go for it! Feeling like KitKat’s instead of Twix? Indulge that whim.
  • Sweet tooth satisfaction. If you’re in the mood for something sweet but don’t want to bake a cake or eat some ice cream, this frappuccino is essentially dessert in drink form.

What’s in a Starbucks Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino?

A Starbucks Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino is made of buttery caramel syrup, milk and ice all blended together. The mixture is then served with a thick layer of dark caramel sauce, whipped cream, a caramel drizzle and a crunchy caramel sugar topping.

For this homemade version, I also added chopped Twix candy bars for a hint of chocolate and extra crunch from the shortbread cookie bits in the candy. Plus, Twix bars have caramel too so they add yet another layer of caramel flavor.

Ingredients for a caramel frappuccino

What You’ll Need

Here’s a quick overview of what you’ll need to make this frappuccino. Be sure to scroll down to the recipe card for ingredient amounts.

  • Ice
  • Coffee – Brew your favorite kind, then chill it in the fridge until cold.
  • Milk – Any kind of milk will work. Regular cow’s milk, oat, soy or almond.
  • Caramel sauce – You can use salted caramel or regular. I like artisan caramel by Fat Toad Farm.
  • Whipped cream – Canned or homemade, both work.
  • Candy bars – I used Twix candy bars, but you could also use KitKats or Butterfingers.
  • Werther’s caramel candies

Smashing the Werther Caramel Candies

The “caramel crunch” in this frappuccino recipe comes from crushed caramel candies. It is hard to find crushed caramel online and I didn’t want to make caramel from scratch for a copycat drink. So instead I just took 2-3 Werther’s caramel candies, placed them in a Ziploc bag and smashed them with a hammer. It’s great for stress relief! 🙂

How to Make a Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino

Are you ready to make this frappuccino recipe? Here’s how to do it:

  • Crush the caramel candies. See above for tips on how to do that. 🙂
  • Chop up the Twix. Finely chop Twix candy bars with a knife. Set aside.
  • Blend. In a high speed blender combine the ice, chilled coffee, milk, simple syrup, and 2 tablespoons of caramel sauce. Blend until everything is well combined.
  • Assemble. Divide the mixture between two tall glasses. Top with a generous amount of whipped cream. Drizzle with the remaining tablespoon of caramel sauce. Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of crushed Twix candy on top of each, according to taste. Finish with a sprinkle of caramel crumbles. Serve with a thick boba style straw.

Tips For Success

  • Do I have to add the Twix bars? No, you can just use the crushed Werther’s caramel candies if you prefer. I like to add the chopped Twix for a hint of chocolate and even more caramel flavor.
  • Can I add chocolate? 100%. You can drizzle chocolate syrup on top of this drink or even along the insides of the glass, similar to a Mudslide drink.
  • Add a sprinkle of salt. You can turn this into a salted caramel frappuccino by sprinkling some flaky sea salt into the blender and/or on top of the drink just before serving. You could also use salted caramel sauce.
